I have PSP 9. I've d/l scripts and loaded them. I've tried to use them and they just don't work. I need help lol, anyone?
It's been a while since I've used them. Some won't work in versions below X, and also double check that they were placed in the correct folder. Mine are usually under scripts- trusted. I remember putting some in the scripts-restricted folder before but I'm not sure why. It may look a little different in your version. Mine are like this-
C-program files- corel- paint shop pro xi-
and then choose between scripts restricted or scripts trusted folder. If one folder doesn't work, try the other? Maybe?

Scripts can be very version reliant especially if the designer has not made them multi-version compatible.
In general scripts written for PSP8 can only be used in PSP8 and 9. Scripts written for PSP 9 can only be used in PSP9 and are not compatible with version 8. Unless scripts written for V8 and V9 are made multiversion compatible they cannot be use in the higher versions. This has to do with the changes in the programme after Corel bought out Jasc.
Scripts written for VersionX, X1 and X2 are not compatible with PSP8 or 9, but can be made multi-version compatible by the script writer.
Whenever you download a script, always be sure to read the TOU and any instructions that come with the script. A good rule of thumb is to ALWAYS place scripts that you have not written yourself into your Scripts Restricted folder. The only scripts that you need to place in your Scripts Trusted folder are those that perform actions like opening and closing documents.
I have quite a few scripts that are available in my stores for Versions 9 right through to X2, and for users of PSP8 I would recommend you have a look at Cassel Creations.

I would have to make a little correction. All scripts created for PSP 8 or 9 SHOULD work in later versions EXCEPT:
- if the script is using Text Tool and the reason is that the Text size can be calculated in different units and somehow, the PSP cannot decide if it wants to read the value in pixels or in point, which can make your text abnormally small or large. Since that is apparently random, i had to develop a particular snippet to have the script do a self-check (i am pretty happy of that!).
In general, BASIC scripts coded in version 9 should work ok in later versions, but will need a fair bit of tweaking to get it to work with version 8 (which i was able to do with Joelle's script). Unfortunately, many scripters use version X or above to code, which makes it much harder to go "backward". I always code with version 9 so there is much less tweaking to do to make it compatible with all versions.
