I'll start the thread . . . . .who here is military?

What branch of service?
MOS?
How long have you/your SO been serving?
Do you live on post?
How many Deployments?
Any Overseas Assignments?

Children?
What do your children think of being a military child?
Do they go to a DoD school?
Are they homeschooled?

Do you have any tips, suggestions about being a Military Family?
Can you share anywhere you can get a Military Discount?

Anyone think of any other questions in helping us get to know each other?

I better answer my own questions, huh?! LOL

What branch of service? Army
MOS? Chaplains Assistant, Medac
How long have you/your SO been serving? Sept 2006--yeah, we are new
Do you live on post? Yes
How many Deployments? 2007-2009 OIF
Any Overseas Assignments? None, but is being told next duty assignment might be Korea. But we'll see when his time is up where they end up putting him. Its the military, nothing is ever set in stone, right?! LOL

Children? Two daughters 8 and almost 6
What do your children think of being a military child? On a good day, they enjoy being military children. But on a bad day they hate everything Army. They didn't like Daddy being in Basic or AIT but didn't mind his deployment very much because they were used to him being gone--it was just the first couple months of Basic that was tough. They've developed some pretty thick skin by now.
Do they go to a DoD school? There is a school on base, but we opted to not put them in it.
Are they homeschooled? Due to medical reasonings we have decided that homeschooling fits my daughter's sun/heat allergy.

Do you have any tips, suggestions about being a Military Family? Get to know your neighbors, keep being positive and encouraging to your other neigbors because you never know when you might need their generosity.
Can you share anywhere you can get a Military Discount?
*Lowes and Sears offers a military discount.
*Military families get a discount at Crayola Factory.
*Great Wolf Lodge offers discounts with military ID
*When your loved one is deployed, you are eligible for a super low rate on your car loan, mortgage, credit card bills, etc. We did this when my husband was deployed and was able to pay off all our debt with the super low rate.
*Free admission once a year to Sesame Place, Sea World or Bush Gardens
*Free admission to the soldier at Kneobles

Im trying to think where we've used our military cards for discounts.
Of course there is Disney, Disney Cruise....Shades of Green is a great place to get tickets for Disney.

Wow! I never knew that about lowering your rates and stuff on loans. That's a great way to pay off your debt!
