I bought the Fadingaway word art overlays from IBD and I have absolutely no idea what to do with them. When I try to write my own wordart and use the overlay the "write your text here" still shows.
Can anyone please explain to me how to use these?

Thank you!

Thank you very much!!!!
I think I'm having either a senior moment or a blond moment...take your pick.

you just have to select the text layer and type your own words :) I just tried it in PSE8 and it works fine :)

I really must be doing something wrong. When I select the layer and go to Type, it tells me that in order to continue I need to Simplify the layer. But once you do this, the text can not be edited....

Scratch that - senior moment! I figured it out...I think.
I'm going to try again and I'll let you know if I have any other problems.
SORRY!!! :o

Thank you so much Tiffany. I'm working on a LO right now and I plan to use your wordart templates for it. I think I figured it out now, but if I have any problems I will email you.
I do appreciate your reaching out!

It looks fabulous! Also, not only can you change the text itself, you can also change the text color and font to anything you want. :)

Oh Wow that is fabulous, what a great idea to use the overlay with a W/A. That had never occurred to me and it looks awesome!

Great LO! OK, now share with the rest of us what you did to get it to work so we don't go through the same...ahem, "moment"!

LOL. It really was a dumb blonde moment! Once you open it on Photoshop just double click to select the layer and then select text to use your own text. I basically just wrote over and over and over my phrase and then saved with another name and voila!
Now, there may be an easier way than writing your phrase over and over, but I don't know it.
What I a curious about is this: I have some gorgeous overlays of old writing that I would love to use to create word art with - how would I go about substituting the text layer with the writing overlay? Does anyone know?

Maria, just replace the writing layer with the text layer ;)

Drag the layer mask on top of the writing layer. In fact you can even drag the layer mask onto another paper and it would fade it too :)

Your page looks great! I just used the product to create a background paper for our upcoming blog train and got great results. I changed the text to LainieDaySH font in white for a punch of color.

Thanks! I was very happy with the way it turned out, of course it started with Tiffany's great template so the credit goes to Tiff! It will be part of the blog train so you'll have a chance to snag it.

Speaking of these templates I'm working on two more sets and a set of faded text shapes, plus a possible action that you type your text into and it fills in the template for you to save time.

Oh man, an action would be to die for! I love these templates but it does take quite a while to fill in the text and once I get under the mask (I'm using PSE), I can't see what I'm typing and I lose my place.
